Abstract

Objective: to analyse the improvement of poor eating habits among fire brigade personnel, Ibarra, Ecuador. Methods: Observational descriptive study, the population was 135 firefighters from the Ibarra Fire Department - Ecuador. Results: The fact that only 10% of firefighters have a normal body mass index reinforces the urgency of implementing nutritional health programmes in this population. Conclusion: The results indicate that a combination of nutritional interventions based on structured diets, such as carbohydrate restriction and time-restricted eating, together with education on the importance of hydration and reduced consumption of processed foods, may be key to reducing the risk of cardiometabolic diseases and improving physical performance in firefighters.
