Abstract

Objective: To analyse periodontitis in pregnant women. Method: Systematic review of 15 scientific articles. Results and Conclusion: Periodontitis in pregnant women represents a significant risk factor for obstetric complications, such as preterm birth, low birth weight and pre-eclampsia. The reviewed studies confirm that timely treatment and preventive interventions can effectively reduce these risks. It is emphasised that the specific oral manifestations during pregnancy and their systemic impact, such as the oral-intestinal axis, underline the need for comprehensive oral health management in this vulnerable group.
