Resumen

Objetivo: analizar la efectividad antimicrobiana de la miel de abeja en cepas de Porphyromona Gingivalis. Método: Revisión sistemática en 25 articulos. Resultados y Conclusión: Los estudios revisados destacan que la miel, especialmente la de Manuka, posee una acción antimicrobiana significativa gracias a sus compuestos bioactivos, como el metilglioxal y los polifenoles, que inhiben el crecimiento bacteriano y la formación de biopelículas, la capacidad de la miel para combinarse con antibióticos refuerza su papel como complemento en terapias contra bacterias resistentes. Aunque las diversas variedades de miel han mostrado efectividad, la necesidad de estandarizar su uso y optimizar su aplicación clínica es fundamental para garantizar resultados consistentes en el control de P. gingivalis.
