Objective: to describe the methods of evaluation and efficacy of whitening treatments in dentistry. Methods: Systematic review was applied, the population was refined to 15 scientific articles. Results and Conclusion: In the field of whitening treatments, in-office procedures often produce rapid results, but may be associated with increased tooth sensitivity, in contrast to at-home treatments, which offer gradual control.
