Oral diseases due to alcohol, cigarette smoking in adolescents [Enfermedades bucodentales por consumo de alcohol, cigarrillo en adolescentes]

Objective: to analyse oral diseases due to alcohol and cigarette consumption in adolescents. Method: descriptive observational study of 86 participants. Results and Conclusion: Alcohol, due to its dehydrating and acidifying effect, contributes to the deterioration of dental structure, while smoking favours the accumulation of tartar and bacterial plaque, as well as predisposing to more severe conditions such as leukoplakia and oral cancer. These effects not only have a physical impact, but also affect the quality of life related to oral health, reducing the perception of well-being and self-esteem in adolescents.
