Objective: to analyse the presence of microorganisms in dental prostheses of older adult patients. Method: Systematic review of 15 scientific articles. Results and Conclusion: Microorganisms present in dentures of older adults represent a significant clinical challenge due to their impact on oral health and their connection to systemic conditions. The evidence reviewed highlights the microbial diversity in dentures, including pathogens such as Candida spp, Porphyromonas gingivalis and Streptococcus pneumoniae, which are associated with oral inflammation, respiratory and cardiovascular diseases.
