Objective: to analyse chronic child undernutrition in Ecuador through a systematic review of documents. Method: PRISMA systematic review of 30 scientific articles. Results and conclusion: Extreme poverty, limited access to basic health services and insufficient maternal education are directly correlated with inadequate dietary patterns during the first years of life, a critical stage for physical and cognitive development.
