Abstract

Objective: to analyse the factors associated with gestational diabetes in adolescence. Method: A systematic review was carried out, following the guidelines established by the PRISMA statement, 15 studies published in PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science were selected. Conclusion: Gestational diabetes in adolescents is a multifactorial clinical and obstetric challenge, where metabolic determinants, such as pregestational obesity and insulin resistance, play a key role in the pathophysiology of the disease. This risk is exacerbated by adverse socio-economic conditions, including limited access to specialised antenatal care services. Associated obstetric complications, such as foetal macrosomia and congenital malformations, highlight the severe perinatal implications of this pathology.
