Objective: to analyse the indications for hygiene in patients with removable partial dentures. Methods: Systematic review was applied, the population was refined to 15 scientific articles. Results and Conclusion: Cleaning techniques, such as manual brushing and the use of ultrasonic cleaners, are effective in reducing biofilm accumulation, while the incorporation of antimicrobial materials in prosthetic bases offers additional protection against bacterial growth. However, ongoing education on hygiene habits and the impact of external factors, such as caffeine and nicotine, are essential to maximise the effectiveness of these recommendations.
