Abstract

Objective: to analyse dental abfraction in adult patients over 30 years of age based on a review of the literature. Method: a systematic review was applied, the population was refined to 15 scientific articles. Results: Dental abfraction in patients over 30 years of age is a multifactorial condition where occlusal forces and extrinsic factors, such as bruxism and erosion, play a central role in the aetiopathogenesis of non-carious cervical lesions. Conclusion: Although there is consensus on the impact of occlusal stress on the development of these microfractures, the literature suggests the importance of a comprehensive diagnostic approach that considers both biomechanical factors and the oral habits of each patient.
